What We Do

ICCASA promotes a climate-resilient Africa by advancing gender-inclusive adaptation, empowering vulnerable communities, shaping equitable policies, and fostering knowledge exchange for sustainable resilience.

Agriculture and Food Systems

We empower smallholder farmers, especially women, youth, Indigenous Peoples, and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs). This is achieved through inclusive training, providing essential tools, and introducing technologies designed for resilient agriculture and food systems. It's about securing today's harvest and tomorrow's well-being.

Environment and Biodiversity

ICCASA actively promotes biodiversity and sustainable resource use by recognizing and integrating Indigenous knowledge. We work to ensure that marginalized groups are not just beneficiaries, but active stewards of the environment, safeguarding natural resources for future generations.

Health and Nutrition

We tackle complex climate-related health and nutrition challenges with gender-sensitive policies. This includes promoting the cultivation and consumption of nutrient-rich Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) foods to enhance food security and overall community well-being, focusing on the distinct needs of all genders.

Climate Security

We advance inclusive approaches to adaptation, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution. Our strategies are designed to specifically address the unique vulnerabilities of marginalized communities, ensuring climate adaptation efforts do not inadvertently exacerbate existing tensions.

Leadership and Governance

ICCASA builds the vital capacity of vulnerable persons, including women, youth, girls, and people with disabilities, to participate meaningfully in leadership, decision-making, and governance processes at all levels. This strengthens their voice, agency, and representation in climate, agriculture, and development spaces—because effective policy requires diverse perspectives.
